Client Paperwork:

Carrie Gardner

MA, LPC

she/her/hers

I’m a licensed professional counselor with a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University. I desire to help each client I see reach their full potential, feel seen and heard, and understand their inherent value. As a practicing Christian, my guidance comes from the Holy Spirit and my experience as someone so lovingly cared for and called by Jesus is what anchors me. For this reason, I use a faith-based approach with those seeking Christian counseling. I’m honored to work with both those who share my beliefs and those who don’t, so will tailor my approach to fit your needs. My ethics are important and are driven by my profession as well as my faith, both of which emphasize a respect for you and the direction you want to take in therapy.
I’m EMDR trained and use it frequently as I have a heart for working with those who have experienced trauma, more specifically adult survivors of childhood abuse, adults impacted by emotionally destructive relationships, and first responders/veterans. I also work with such issues as anxiety, depression, panic, grief, low self-esteem, addictions, dissociation, persistent disarray, anger, negativity, relational problems, fear, codependency, ineffective communication, lack of direction/purpose and more.
The mission of Walter’s Walk is important to me as I was drawn here first as an Intern and counselor-in-training, then as a self-employed contracted therapist, and currently as an employee/therapist. Serving the St. Louis community by providing services regardless of one’s ability to pay continues to be a mission I care deeply about. I currently see adults for individual counseling, but often have partners and family members join an occasional session if the client so desires for optimal support. My usual office hours are weekdays 9am-5pm with evening sessions available upon request. I accept the following insurance: Cigna, UHC, UMR, Anthem, Mercy, Medicaid, Healthlink, Ambetter/Home State Health, Healthy Blue, and UHC Community Plan.
