Client Paperwork:

Carrie Gardner

I received my professional counseling license in 2016 after working as an intern and PLPC under the supervision of Dr. Jean Moretto. I recently rejoined the team of providers at Walter’s Walk because it is near and dear to my heart and I share a desire to pay it forward by serving those in need. In addition to counseling, my experience includes working with adults with developmental disabilities as well as for the state of Missouri in the Departments of Mental Health and Social Services in various roles. I have also spent some time working in behavioral health serving children and young adults at non-profit organizations.

I enjoy connecting with people as I take a non-judgmental and compassionate approach to counseling. My purpose is always to uplift others, be transparent, and promote positivity. I support seeking balance in life by addressing not only mental health but also spiritual and physical. I am trained in The Core Communication Model and Youth Mental Health First Aid, and I use a trauma informed approach.

My special desire is to help promote healing in those who have suffered trauma, especially in the form of adverse childhood experiences. I counsel children and adults and I encourage family involvement to facilitate healing when appropriate. Though trauma is my niche, I have experience in counseling people from all walks of life who are struggling with things such as change, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, self-harming behavior and addictions.
