Client Paperwork:

Samantha Ranck

MSW, MA, PLPC

I am a provisionally licensed professional counselor working under the supervision of Carrie Gardner, MA, LPC. I currently hold a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist University, a MSW from Washington University in St. Louis, as well as, a BA in Elementary Education. I have 20 years of experience working in mental health and ten years in education. In addition, I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association.

Among other things, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This allows me to work with clients experiencing trauma and stress-related symptoms. I have a special interest in working with veterans, active military, first responders and clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, grief, and complex grief. I am a certified dementia care specialist and am interested in working with the older population as well.

I operate on the assumption that each person has the potential to live the life they desire. By establishing a confidential and trustworthy therapeutic relationship, therapy can provide a pathway out of the hurt and confusion surrounding life’s challenges and replace it with healthier ways of interacting in the world. My focus with clients is on processing past and current life events, providing tools and techniques for navigating day to day challenges, and teaching clients techniques that can be useful in maximizing their strengths. I believe that it is important for a counselor to instill in clients hope and the realization that they possess the power to change.
