Tamara is a Counselor in Trainer (CIT) under the direct supervision of Julia Dooley, MA, RPT, LPC #2015035429. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Child and Family Studies, from Northwest Missouri State University, and has obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Missouri Baptist University.
Tamara currently works as a Therapeutic Foster Care Case Manager at Great Circle, working with youth in the foster care system who have experienced trauma. Tamara has 2 years of experience in working with youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and has 5 years’ experience working with youth who have elevated mental health and behavioral health needs (ages 5-20). Tamara has a special interest in continuing to work with youths to young adults and incorporating play/art into sessions.
Tamara likes to take a Person-Centered approach, along with Cognitive Behavioral approach, and works collaboratively with clients to reach their counseling goals. Tamara believes that each person has the potential to be their best selves, so long as they think it, believe it, and act on it. Tamara will work with clients on taking on different perspectives and changing thought processes/patterns.
